"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather
reprove them." Ephesians 5:11

In Sodom and Gomorrha, sin had overrun the people's hearts like a virus.
Lot interacted with these people daily, and was nauseated by the vile acts
that he saw. Yet Scripture never indicates that he ever spoke against what
they did until their sin was literally at his door. On that night, two angels came to Sodom to warn Lot and his family to flee before God destroyed
it. A group of homosexual men in Sodom had learned of the angels and came to Lot's door, demanding that he send them out so the men of Sodom could rape them (If you don't believe it, read Genesis 19 for yourself). When Lot told them that they were doing wickedly, they became enraged and told him, "...now will we deal worse [emphasis mine] with thee, than with them".
Genesis 19:9

They knew that their homosexual acts were wrong. Lot knew this, too, but we don't know if  Lot had ever taken a stand against sin before this time. We
don't know if he ever spoke of God's judgment on sin while he lived there,
or of God's forgiveness of sins for those who would repent and trust in the
coming Saviour. Had Lot stood up for right and against wrong, then
maybe--just maybe--some people would have listened and escaped Sodom's destruction and eternity in hell.

Here's the point: we live in a wicked world. 1 John 5:19 says, "...the
whole world lieth in wickedness." Same-sex activity is just a part of it.
People also gamble, drink, smoke, engage in adultery, take drugs, and fill
their minds with filthy talk and pornography via TV, movies, and the
Internet. Deep down in their God-given conscience, they know that they're
doing wrong, but they need somebody with enough guts and love for their
souls to be honest with them about their sins. If you know Jesus as your
personal Saviour, that somebody is you.

If you're a police officer, you have a unique opportunity to reach
co-workers with the gospel, people who may not listen to an "outsider".
However, it's vital not to fellowship with their sin. The verse doesn't
forbid fellowship with them, but it does forbid fellowship with their sin. A
Christian officer should certainly show kindness and concern for fellow
officers, but a Christian officer has no business listening to gossipy,
dirty, backstab chatter at the station, or sitting at the police bar after
work, or gambling God's money at the police poker game, or in any other
"police" activity that hurts his testimony for Christ.

Please remember that officers who die without Christ go to the same hell as
anyone else who dies without Christ. Your colleagues don't need another "one of the guys". They need a witness for Jesus, whether they admit it or not.  Be a witness for Christ. God only knows how much you'll be used to bring precious souls--even those of others on the job--from eternity in hell.
